FAQs

Do I need to have indoor or private space for sessions?

Strictly speaking, you do not need to have access to any particular environment for sessions. I am happy to work with clients in most any environment. That said, there are a few parameters: space separate from other horses and people is preferred; space separate from feed is preferred in most cases; space with minimal distractions from objects or actions which cause your horse(s) concern (ex: heavy equipment, sudden loud noises, etc.) Obviously, ideal conditions are rare, and I work hard to accommodate any and all circumstances.

Do I need to be present for sessions?

You do not need to be present for sessions. If you choose not to be there, please be clear about how to access your horse(s) and where sessions can be performed. If you do choose to be present for sessions, please keep distance and do not engage with your horse(s).

I do prefer guardians to be present for intake sessions. This allows for a real-time discussion about your horse(s) and goals for bodywork. However, if you are not able to be present, these steps can be completed remotely, ahead of intake session.

Are there any horses you don’t work with?

In general, I am happy to work with anyone! If your horse is unhandled and/or not halter trained, contact for discussion about my process for approaching bodywork in these situations.

What happens if my horse doesn’t respond well to bodywork?

Most horses respond very well to bodywork, though for some it can be a process of building trust before they can fully benefit. However, sometimes the dynamic between practitioner and client simply isn’t a good fit. My ultimate goal is the well-being of each individual horse. If I am not able to establish rapport and trust with your horse, I will refer you to another practitioner, or make alternative recommendations.

What if my horse is not making progress in bodywork goals or not gaining benefits?

Again, my ultimate goal is the well-being of each individual client. If your horse is not making progress in treatment or goals, I will first work with you to alter the treatment plan. If all efforts within my scope of practice fail to provide adequate benefit, I will refer you to another practitioner, or make alternative recommendations.
